Synopsis

Posted: 9/5/2013

As Congress prepares to vote early next week on whether or not to take military action in Syria, we ask that you please contact your representatives today and urge them to vote no on any military intervention in Syria.

Description

Please take these steps today:

1) Click here to write an email to your representative

2) Call your representative in addition to emailing in order to have the greatest impact.  Call the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to be connected directly to your representatives in the House and Senate. Sample script:

I’m calling to urge [Congressmember/Senator] to vote no on any military intervention in Syria. U.S. militarism does not advance human rights. U.S. efforts should be directed to fostering a broader political and diplomatic resolution to this brutal conflict and helping address the massive refugee crisis the country’s civil war created.

3) If you are on Twitter, search for your representatives and send them a tweet. Sample tweet: “Missiles can't advance human rights. Vote no on military intervention in #Syria. Focus on political resolution.”

Please read CCR’s Legal Director Baher Azmy’s op-ed on MSNBC U.S. Militarism Does Not Advance Human Rights and our statement CCR Strongly Opposes U.S. Military Intervention in Syria.

Thank you for taking urgent action today.
