August 23, 2014 March for Justice / We Will not Go Back.

This march for justice for all vicims of police brutality will take place in Staten Island, New York.

Over the past several weeks, people across the country have been outraged and heartbroken by the recent deaths of Michael Brown, Ezell Ford, Eric Garner and others who have unjustly lost their lives to police brutality and violence.  These tragic and unnecessary deaths have sparked actions and protests calling for justice and an end to  the excessive use of force on communities of color across the country. On Saturday, August 23rd, CCR, Communities United for Police Reform and thousands of people will march to call for:

• Justice for Eric Garner, Ramarley Graham & countless others killed and/or brutalized by NYPD officers;
• Zero tolerance for police brutality; and
• End to discriminatory “broken windows” policing that targets communities of color and fails to keep New Yorkers safe.

How to join the marchers:

For those commuting to Staten Island, you can take the Staten Island Ferry to Staten Island (Take the "1" to South Ferry; "4/5" to Bowling Green; "R" to Whitehall/South Ferry). CCR staff will be meeting at 9:30 am on Saturday, August 23 in Manhattan outside of the main entrance to the Staten Island Ferry terminal, under the huge letter 'F' in 'Ferry.' We, along with partners in the CPR policing campaign, will take the 10:00 am ferry (for info about the ferry, which runs every 30 minutes on Saturday, click here).

Once in Staten Island:

11:00 AM: Marchers will assembly at the site of the killing of Eric Garner (intersection of Victory Blvd and Bay St.)
12:00 PM: March Steps off from Victory Blvd & Bay Street, Staten Island

Rally at Richmond Terrace & Hamilton Ave
1:00 PM: Rally begins
3:00 PM: Rally concludes
