CCR First Wednesday: AETA

Date

Add to My Calendar Wednesday, March 4, 2015 6:00pm

Join CCR for our monthly First Wednesday event to talk about the federal Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA). Over the past decade, animal rights and environmental activists have been increasingly targeted for repression in what has come to be known the Green Scare.  The AETA is a key aspect of this repression. It criminalizes a wide swath of First Amendment-protected advocacy and protest activity by animal rights activists, and punishes non-violent civil disobedience as “terrorism.”

CCR was one of the first organizations to fight back against the Green Scare, and in recent years has challenged the AETA as unconstitutional.  CCR Communications Associate, CCR client and longtime animal rights activist Lauren Gazzola will tell her personal story and talk about what CCR is currently doing to challenge the AETA!
