The documentary tells the story of Djamel Ameziane, an Algerian citizen, who has been held in Guantánamo Bay without charge since 2002. In 2008 he was cleared for release since 2008, but has remained in the detention camp until today. He continues to be held because of congressional legislation restricting the transfer of men from Guantánamo, and the White House’s failure to use the limited certification process established by the legislation to transfer detained men.  Djamel cannot return to Algeria and is in need of a safe third country in which to rebuild his life. Today, he remains imprisoned, dehumanised and given a number: Internment Serial Number (ISN): 310. 

The film tells Djamel's story through his letters, paintings and the accounts of those who have known him, including Djamel’s brother Youssef, his US lawyer Wells Dixon and former employers and colleagues. Through his story, the human cost and injustice caused by indefinite detention at Guantánamo becomes clear as the audience gains a sense of the person, Djamel Ameziane, who at Guantánamo is only known as ISN 310.''

The film is produced by Woodcutter Productions in association with the Center for Constitutional Rights

The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with J. Wells Dixon (Center for Constitutional Rights), Manfred Nowak (Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights; University of Vienna) and others.

The event is organised by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institut of Human Rights, the Research Platform “Human Rights in the European Context” and the Center for Constitutional Rights.
