Location

Please join the Center for Constitutional Rights at an important event and day-long conference on May 20th featuring CCR Director of Education and Outreach Annette Warren Dickerson.

More than a failure, the war on drugs has swollen the prison population, left millions of people with criminal records and has damaged communities. This day-long conference organized by formerly incarcerated women, policy experts and community activists will offer practical examples of public health alternatives.

The conference will examine how to address fundamental social issues-including race, gender and class inequities-by viewing individuals within the context of commities. Discussion will be organized around prevention, treatment, harm reduction and safety. Participants will focus on what works, what is just, and what can reverse the crisis of incarceration and mass criminalization, particularly relative to women.
