Testimony before IACHR on race and criminal justice in the U.S.

CCR submitted written testimony for a thematic hearing of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) on race and criminal justice in the United States. CCR's testimony touched on several aspects of the criminal justice system where racial discrimination is present, including: discriminatory municipal policing practices and police violence; suspicionless surveillance of Muslim communities; harsh and unnecessary federal immigrant detention and expedited deportation practices; discriminatory designations to isolate prisoners in federal prisons; and the racially discriminatory use of the death penalty.

On March 16, 2015, CCR Advocacy Program Manager  Nahal Zamani delivered oral remarks before the IACHR.
