CCR Files Amicus Brief in South African Apartheid Case Before U.S. Courts

December 1, 2009, New York, NY - CCR filed an amicus brief in support of a lawsuit seeking accountability for American and German corporations who allegedly assisted the South African Apartheid regime.

Plaintiffs’ claims are against three American corporations, General Motors Corporation (GM), Ford Motor Company (Ford), and International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), and two German corporations, Daimler A.G. and Rheinmetall Group A.G. Plaintiffs allege that these Defendants provided substantial, purposeful assistance to the Apartheid regime by supplying it with products and services to advance torture, extrajudicial killing, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, apartheid, and denationalization.

The Center for Constitutional Rights is dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Founded in 1966 by attorneys who represented civil rights movements in the South, CCR is a non-profit legal and educational organization committed to the creative use of law as a positive force for social change.
