Does Obama Want to Close Guantánamo or Not?

President Obama says he wants to close the Guantánamo Bay prison, but behind the scenes we see a frighteningly different story of inter-agency dysfunction, political expediency, and secrecy.

Join us for CCR First Wednesday on September 2. We’re excited to have Spencer Ackerman, national security editor for the Guardian US, joining us to discuss what the future holds for Guantánamo.

This event is FREE. Come to the discussion, grab a drink (happy-hour specials), and meet new friends! Plus, CCR’s own DJ Ian Head will be playing a short set of soulful breaks and beats before and after the presentation.

WHAT: CCR First Wednesdays Discussion with Senior Staff Attorney J. Wells Dixon and Guardian US’s Spencer Ackerman. Followed by Q&A.

Doors open at 6pm, program begins at 6:30pm, followed by Q&A. A hearty thank you to Von for co-hosting this series!

CCR First Wednesdays is a free monthly series where we invite you to join us for a salon-style happy hour where we discuss social justice issues and network.
