Synopsis

CCR filed this federal suit to protect the First Amendment rights of peace, social justice and environmental justice groups to dissent and protest at and around the G-20 summit, held in Pittsburgh September 24-25, 2009.  Federal, state and local defendants had refused permits to many protest groups and restricted the ones approved to areas outside of the area where the G-20 was to be held. 

Status

Injunction hearing was set for September 16, 2009.  CCR Attorneys are Jules Lobel and Anjana Samant.  Suit was co-filed with the ACLU of Pennsylvania.  Filed 9.11.09 in USDC – W.D. PA.  Won increased 1st amendment activity at injunction hearing.
