Created and performed by Bryonn Bain, “Lyrics from Lockdown” is a powerful provocative multimedia production based on the actual experiences of a young black man imprisoned during his second year at Harvard. “Lyrics from Lockdown” fuses spoken word with hip-hop, comedy, blues and calypso, and features a live band and a DJ.
As CCR’s historic class action lawsuit against the NYPD challenging Stop & Frisk heads to trial on March 18th, this performance will be followed by a conversation on the impact of discriminatory policing on New Yorkers, and community based efforts to challenge these practices. The discussion will include Lyrics from Lockdown creator and star Bryonn Bain and partners from community-based organizations. Please visit stopandfrisk.org to learn more about CCR's advocacy and litigation work challenging discriminatory policing.
